Sick of doing the same old stuff with your guy? Is Netflix and chill boring you half to death? Here are some new & fun things to do with your boyfriend!
Are you looking for some fun things to do with your boyfriend? Honestly, getting to the point in your relationship where things are easy and you have a routine going is a great thing. It means you two have spent enough time together to get past that initial honeymoon phase and are settling down into your lives together.
But the one thing that just plain sucks about this is that you probably do the same things time and time again. You go to the same restaurant to eat, come home and watch Netflix, and then go to bed. While this can be relaxing, it’s not very fun or exciting.
Fun things to do with your boyfriend that’ll make him love you more
After a while, you may begin to feel like there’s something missing in your relationship. Like things just aren’t the same as they used to be. This could lead to the dreaded relationship rut. Wouldn’t you like to avoid getting stuck in one of those?
It’s scientifically proven that when a couple engages in a new, exciting activity together, that experience can foster positive feelings for the relationship and can make both partners feel closer to one another. These are both crucial for a lasting and loving relationship.
If you’re feeling like your relationship needs a pick-me-up or if you’re just surfing the web for some things to do with your boyfriend, we have everything you’ll ever need!
And if you’re looking for the most fun things to do with your boyfriend, here’s what you need to excite you both again and add that extra spark you’ve been missing.
#1 Trivia night. Most local bars or eateries host trivia nights on occasion—usually on a weekly basis. If your usual dinner is getting too boring, go for one of those and see how terrible or great you both are at random trivia. The competitive nature of the game will bring a new edge to your relationship.
#2 Plan a vacation. You may not be able to go on a vacation right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan for one with your boyfriend. Check out the best locations, hotels, all the places to visit and everything you’d want to do there. It’ll give you both something to think about, and keep things exciting.
#3 Talk about the future. It’s not always that we get the time to do this. Life always gets in the way, but if you have a few lazy hours together and you’re looking for fun things to do with your boyfriend, just talk about the future, what you want it to be like, and what would be nice to have. Fantasize, and soon, you’ll be able to build it together.
#4 Make a list of goals. If you want to do something that can seriously change your lives together for the better, make a list of future goals – a monthly one, a half-yearly one and a long term yearly goal. What do you wish to achieve alone, and as a couple? Lie down in bed, write down a list of goals and break them up into smaller, easily achievable goals. It’ll show your partner you’re not just cute and sweet, but driven and passionate too! But just make sure both of you follow through on your goals.
#5 Talk about the past. The past is something most of us avoid talking about. But just because we don’t talk about it doesn’t mean your partner doesn’t think about it. You don’t have to get into the details, but you can definitely talk about what you’ve learned from your childhood, your past relationships, and everything else that both of you are willing to comfortably share with each other.
#6 Read a book together. Cuddle up in each other’s arms, and take turns reading a few pages out to each other. It may seem boring and not up there on the list of fun things to do with your boyfriend, but before you know it, both of you will be hooked and spend a whole day just reading the book and cuddling up.
#7 Talk about secrets. We all have skeletons in the closet, but talking about some of those skeletons can actually bring both of you closer together. And, it’s a huge relief to unburden yourself off someone of those secrets too.
#8 Watch porn! Yup, you heard that right! There is nothing wrong with watching a bit of porn together and having a laugh. Well, it starts out with both of you laughing until, boom, your panties are off and you’re wondering how did a boring afternoon turn into a whole day of passionate sex.
#9 Write each other a letter. Humor us, seriously! It seems like the most boring thing to do, but sometimes, putting pen on paper is a gesture you’ll remember for an entire lifetime. Time each other for 30 minutes *you can always take extra time!* and ask your boyfriend to write a love note, and you do the same for him.
#10 Go on a long drive. It doesn’t have to be anywhere specific, nor does it have to be a long journey or road trip. Just hop into the car, and drive for a couple of hours to wherever the road takes you. It’s a great way to explore, and the spontaneity of it all will make your relationship more exciting.
#11 Laser tag. What’s not fun and exciting about running around trying to “shoot” your significant other? Stay on opposite teams to make the night even more fun.
#12 Trampoline world. Have you ever heard of a building that is filled with trampolines? These have been popping up in cities all across the country, and they allow you to just jump away through the entire place on trampolines for a small price.
#13 Picnic. If the weather is nice, pack a picnic and head out for the afternoon. It’s way more fun than sitting inside eating food, and you’ll probably find more things to talk about while being outdoors.
#14 Camping. Get out of the house for a few days and be one with nature for a little while. Even better yet, leave your phones in the car for the night and listen to all the sounds of nature while you snuggle with your honey.
#15 Prank a friend. Think of a mutual friend you have and devise a sneaky plan to prank them. You’ll have a ridiculous amount of fun being evil together.
#16 Host a barbeque… and have a water balloon fight! But don’t tell anyone about it. Make sure you have a “no cell phone” rule in effect during the party and keep all the guests’ phones in a bucket. Then you and your boyfriend can start attacking everyone with water balloons and watch as the fun unfolds.
#17 Go canoeing and bring snacks and wine. If there’s a nearby river or lake, rent a canoe and spend a few hours on the water. Snacks and wine will make the evening that much more romantic, too.
#18 Visit a local museum. You can learn an awful lot about any town or location by visiting a museum. You can have a nice evening together while learning something at the same time.
#19 Try a Pinterest project and post your failure! Let’s be honest, most Pinterest projects end in disaster. What could be more fun and funny than spending an afternoon accomplishing something, even if it doesn’t exactly turn out the way you’d planned? If it does work out, you have something new for your place. If it doesn’t, it’s still a fun story and an even funnier picture.
#20 Go to a concert. Even if it’s just a local group, go listen! You’ll end up dancing the night away in no time. And who knows, you may even find your new favorite band.
#21 Play some video games. A fun racing game like Mario Kart is enough to get the competitiveness going and keep the night entertaining.
#22 Have a goofy photo shoot. Have a friend who has a camera come over and dress each other up in goofy outfits for a fun, memorable photo shoot.
#23 Finger paint together. Pick an object to focus on and paint away, but only use your fingers! Whoever’s is the best wins. And if you want to take it one step further, use a few paintbrushes and a canvas. In all probability, by the time both of you are done, you’ll have something to hang on the wall… a true work of love that can last forever!
#24 Make some mad libs! Look up some mad lib templates and let each other pick out words to fill in the blanks. Your stomach will be sore from laughing before the night’s over.
#25 Go to an amusement park. If you’re looking for fun things to do with your boyfriend, and there’s a park near you, go have some adrenaline-filled fun! Order a funnel cake and see who can eat it the fastest.
#26 Go ice skating. That is, if both of you can actually skate. Or even if you can’t, this could be a chance to learn something new together!
#27 Go to the zoo. Who says the zoo is for little kids? Go enjoy the monkeys, food, and fun.
#28 Make a blanket fort. If you want to spice up your usual movie night, make a blanket fort together and watch movies under it. You can even make a bunch of snacks from your childhood and reminisce about the good old times.
#29 Play in the snow. If you’re stuck in the winter blues, head outside and play in the snow! Have a snowman-making competition or even a snowball fight. You can even enjoy a long, hot bubble bath together afterwards.
#30 Play a game of ping pong… with high stakes. Set the rules and a prize and play away! You could even make the loser your slave for a week.
#31 People-watch. This is my personal favorite. Pick a bench somewhere that’s populated and watch the people who walk by. Make up different scenarios and be their voices.
#32 Play strip poker. This says enough for itself. Strip down, and I think we both know where the evening will go.
#33 Take a cooking class together. There are a lot of places that offer cooking classes to the public. Sign up and get cooking. Who knows, maybe you’ll learn something valuable.
#34 Go sing karaoke and sing a cheesy love song. My personal favorite is almost any duet from Grease. A couple of drinks beforehand will make things much easier.
#35 Go on a scavenger hunt. Have each other make a map of clues and riddles and have a prize waiting at the end. It could be anything from a free massage from you to a gift card to their favorite store.
#36 Make bucket lists. Most people have a mental bucket list of things they want to accomplish before they die, but have you ever written them down? If you’re looking for interesting things to do with your boyfriend, make a physical list and read them to each other. You’ll not only learn more about your partner, but now you’ll be able to help each other cross stuff off, too.
#37 Get a psychic reading together. If there are any psychics in your area, go spend a few bucks and hear what they have to say. Even if you don’t believe in it, it’ll make for a great story.
#38 Dress each other up and go out for dessert and coffee only. I’m always curious as to what my boyfriend would choose to dress me up in if he had the choice. Dress each other up in what you think they look best in and head out for some fancy dessert and coffee—a twist on your typical date night.
#39 Make an at-home spa day. Bring out the candles and scented oils, turn down the lights, and put on some soothing music. Have a spa day where each of you gives the other a nice full-body massage.
#40 Netflix and chill all day. One of the easiest ways to spend all day together. Need we say more?
Being in a long-term relationship doesn’t have to mean that you’ll run out of fun things to do. These things to do with your boyfriend are just the beginning of all the amazing things you and your boyfriend can do together.
